Outschool ($240.2M)
Outschool
Outschool and Varsity Tutors are both US-based online tutoring platforms. They offer live video lessons across a variety of subjects, for a variety of ages and skill levels. Both allow flexible schedules. Both work with independent teachers or tutors (rather than hiring their own staff).

However, Outschool (founded in 2015) focuses on group classes for children and teens (ages 3-18). Its program is focused on engaging, project-based learning (rather than a school-based curriculum). Lessons are typically short and topic-based. Teachers come from a variety of backgrounds, so it's important to pay attention to reviews.

Varsity Tutors (2007) is more focused on individual tutoring. The platform covers thousands of subjects, including college and professional subjects and offers test preparation (SAT, ACT, etc.). It can work with adults and students, not just children. It has a good recommendation system that uses AI to select a tutor.
