Chegg and Quizlet are both American educational services that help students with homework and material understanding. Both also allow users to create and share learning materials in any language. They operate on a subscription model with additional paid features, use machine learning technology to personalize content and offer mobile apps.

However, Chegg (founded in 2005) originally started as a textbook rental service and now offers textbook-based solutions to problems and expert-helped test preparation. It includes essay writing and plagiarism checking tools. Its primary users are college and university students. The service is frequently criticized for facilitating academic dishonesty.

Quizlet (2005) is primarily a tool for creating flashcards to memorize words in foreing language or other information. It uses gamification and quizzes for learning and motivation and supports student and teacher collaboration. The basic, ad-supported version is free.
