51Talk
VIP Kid ($1.1B)
VIP Kid
51Talk and VIPKid are both China-based online English learning platforms. They offer one-on-one video lessons with native or fluent English teachers. Both are focused on the Chinese market and use digital learning materials adopted for China.

However, 51Talk (founded in 2011) was initially focused on adults, but later extanded to children. Its teachers are primarily from the Philippines, so their lesson prices are more affordable. Compared to VIPKid, 51Talk offers a more flexible lesson system, both in terms of schedule and curriculum.

VIPKid (2013) is clearly focused on children aged 4-12. Its teachers are primarily from the US and Canada, so its curriculum is similar to that of American schools. This platform has higher lesson prices, but places a strong emphasis on game-based and interactive learning.
